So, missing in the other news of what the IHSAA executive committee approved is that is defeated a proposal to seed sectionals, and instead keep the blind draw. This seems like one of the things that fans, players, coaches and the media have wanted for a long time. What possible harm could it do? I am not sure why these folks are afraid of this idea.
It would be even easier than the blind draw. Keep track of records, whatever tie breakers, etc. The could probably even somehow partner with John Harrell to get all of this stuff and then let a computer decide who is each sectional plays who.
Again, just not sure what they are afraid of. Any thoughts?

I like the idea of seeding. That way when we beat the bad Gary teams, we can beat Morton in the championship!

I agree that the sectionals should be seeded..make the regular season mean something..I'd say use the saragin ratings to determine the seeds of each sectional..I think it would be the fairest way of determining it
Then we don't have to see LCC and Pioneer faceoff in round 1 of the playoffs

I wish they were too. I would probably use regular season record, but the Saragin ratings a would be a good idea too, but I am not sure what those involve. What I don't like is when we have to face a great team in the first round when it should be the final in the years that we are good. Teams should get a reward for being good.

I think it should be seeded based on conference record and then use the rest of the record as a tie breaker.

Keep it the way it is. The way that they draw now is fun. No one knows who they will get and the best team has to win. If the two best teams meet in the first week, that is ok. They will have to play each other anyway. Who cares?

why indianbacker? Isn't it better to have them in the real championship?

It is a real championship. You have to beat the team you play. It is more exciting. The day of the draw is like a football fans birthday.

I disagree. It is not a championship unless it is the final game.

I think most fans would agree that they would like to see a seeded sectional. indianabacker likes the tradition (if you can call it that) of the blind draw. I think most fans disagree, and if you had the two "best" teams playing in the finals, it would likely draw a ton of interest from the fans and especially the players at other schools who are knocked out of the tournament. That would generate, dare I say it, more money? What I am curious about the where executive committe had a problem with this.

I don't know why anyone would be against seeding the sectional. More often then we realize it is money that is the driving force, and I just don't see it here.

I am against it because I want the draw. I would miss it. It is also fun to hear your teams named called. Seeding the sectional is taking the easy way out.

I can see that I guess, but its not as good a the two most worthy competitors playing for the trophy.

Are they not still meeting sometimes? A championship team is a winner no matter when they win.
