Last year was great for Crown Point in Soccer with the boys winning the state championship and the girls in the semi-state. I know the boys have a new coach and lose Lomeli, but how will both teams be this year?

I don't know, but I thought most of the team was young kids last year.

Thanks Julio, I wasn't sure. I did a story after the championship, but I didn't remember for sure. I looked back, and you are right. CP has 6 starters from last years tournament run including Alex Fenn who hit the game winning PK in the state championship and Bay Kurtz and Zach Sneiderwine who were the top two scorers for CP last season. Of course, they lose Christian Lomeli who was key in the tournament run in goal. The nice part for them is that they also have Aleksandar Trifunovic who was the primary goaltender until Lomeli was eligible.
On the girls side, they will lose 9 seniors including there GK Kelsey Shoemaker, but they return midfielder Sarah Rivich who was the team's leading scorer. They also lose the 2nd, 3rd and 4th scorers Abi Small, Amy Adams, & Kylie Mikus, so it seems like a bit of a rebuilding year. I am sure the talent is out there though.

richsapper, thank you! I thought I was correct. It looks like the girls will need to find some scoring and a new goletender. The boys will be good though but propbably not bee enough without that keeper. They were ok without him and got real good when he came in.

I do not watch soccer, but I know some of the kids on the team. They are really top notch people and are good players. The way I hear it, they are excited for the season.

The Crown Point girls will be a good team. They have some strong players and did a good job against our girls at Chesterton and they were the only team that we lost to in conference. We have three strong players who graduated, but the rest of the team is back and can not wait to meet Crown Point on the field.
