Matt Cain completed a perfect game tonight against Houston. Of course, the Sox Phillip Humber pitched one earlier against the Mariners. Granted both were against teams, that, let's face it, are not great. The difference though is that Humber collapsed following his and was a one-hit-wonder. In other words Humber is the Right Said Fred of baseball. On the other hand Cain has been a 2 time All Star, has been one of the top pitcher in the league and will continue to do so. Add to that the 14ks, makes it that much more impressive.
That said, I don't want to take away from Humber. A perfect game is nearly impossible. Only 22 of them in the history of MLB, but Cain's performance was more impressive.
