So the Cubs fired their hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo today. I understand that the Cubs aren't hitting well, but it could be because the brain trust put together what amounts to a AAA team. Making Jaramillo the scapegoat does not change that fact. Firing the hitting coach in this case is kind of like firing a general who can't lead his troops to a battlefield win because they are armed with paintball guns.

Rich, it doesn't make much sense, but someone has to be the sacrificial lamb I guess.

Julio, I would say a lot of people. The Cubs are a really bad team (and I am a fan of the team) but firing the hitting coach isn't going to change anything. He's not the one to blame.

Fire the manager instead!

indianbacker, I don't know if firing Sveum is the way to go either. No one promised great things for the Cubs this season. Every press conference was about the future. That is one reason that I don't understand this firing. Everything has been about the future.

I still think they should fire the manager. Sveum is not good at all. In sports all that matters is this year. Next year and the year after that does not matter.
