Japan beat Spain? After Euro 2012 I thought that they would be the best team here. No one told me that Japan was there to represent!

They lost again?!?!? What is up with da Spainish boyz? First Japan and now Honduras? Maybe they left it at the Euro 2012. Two teams that were not good beat them. Maybe they were just too cocky.

That's the best part about sports I guess, the underdogs. I don't know if there is much bigger of an upset then this.

I don't believe it still today. Who will win gold now?

I don't know Julio. What I heard though is that some of the key players from the Euro 2012 championship were not playing because of some Olympic age restrictions that only allow 3 "veteran" players on the team. I don't follow it closely enough to know if it is true, but if it is, it makes perfect sense.

The mens olympic teams are U-23 teams. They are filled with young pros but many of the top players are too old. Each team is allowed three overage players but to my knowledge none of the Euro 2012 players are rostered on any of the European teams. Great Britain has Ryan Giggs at 38, Craig Bellamy at a similar age.
The womens olympic teams are true national teams with all the stars no matter how old.

I still thought Spain would have a chance. I forgot about that rule.
