I like the chances for the US team this year. My favorite player is Hope Solo and my daughter's favorite player is Lauren Cheney because she found out that she was from Indiana. We also like Abby Wambach a lot. The USA team is why my daughter started playing soccer. Go Team USA!

Yeah, they should be good. The women have exceeded the men in international competition, but the rest of the world has been playing longer than we have. Hopefully they can make a run.

Big scare today with Hope Solo accused of using a banned drug. Because of the type of drug, she was only warned and will be allowed to play in the Olympic games. We have other keepers but no one close to her ability. Would have been huge loss for the US.

That would be a HUGE blow. Hopefully she can keep her nose clean. You are right, she really is a special talent. I agree with soccermomrogers' daughter though. I hope Lauren does well. Good to see an Indiana kid playing at that level.

That is sad. I really thought Hope was a good role model for girls. I need a new favorite.

That is sad. I really thought Hope was a good role model for girls. I need a new favorite. You need to read the story before looking for a new favorite. The banned drug was in a prescribed medication. There is a question whether the drug is a PED. She was taking the medication under doctors orders and she cooperated fully with the investigation. Appears to be an honest mistake.

That is good to know greyhound. I was not sure. It sounds like she was not doing anything bad really. I will keep her as my favorite. I need good role models for my daughter.

Well, so far so good. The US women came from behind to beat France today. Hopefully a harbinger of things to come!

Abby played really hard today. Hope too. They all did. Columbia did not look like they were too very good of a team though. Go Team USA, get the Gold!

The women continue pool play tomorrow against North Korea. Both teams beat Columbia so far. The US won 3-0, North Korea 2-0 and both played France. For North Korea, they were dominated 5-0 as the french beat them, while the US team beat France 4-2. I would think the US would be a favorite there, but you never know. Don't forget how things work in North Korea, I mean Kim Jong Il had 11 holes in one the first time he ever played golf according to his official bio . Maybe his spirit is with the team.
