The RailCats seems to be struggling. Only 1 win in their last 8 games, some players shipped out of town (Kyle Haines traded & Derek Drage cut) and others coming in such as ZachTanner and Valpo University's Tyler Deetjen.
Pitching anddefense have been an issue, even when the bats have not. Massaro, Klein, and Coles have all been hitting well and Henry and Cararra have been picking it up.
What is the answer?

I just think they suck. I guess they can't find anyone who wants to play in Gary.

Julio, I am pretty sure that is not it. The hgard part in independant baseball is that you don't have to (or really want to) hold guys to contracts and at times they leave to play in affliated ball (Like Bear Bay did before he ever pitched for the RailCats, you have guys like Rico Washington and Jason James at the end of their careers who get hurt and then decide to retire mid-season rather than rehab again, etc. It is very difficult at times. We have been spoiled with some great teams, and Greg Tagert is a great field manager and player personel guy, but they have been snake bitten this year.

They lost again tonight, despite quality starting pitching by Stephen Hiscock who pitched well (and has been pitching well) despite being 1-4 this season. The sweep by the Pheasants was their 6th loss in a row. The bats couldn't get the job done, only plating 5 on hit, but also wasting opportunities with five hitters walked and a couple of base loaded-one out-opportunities. It's too bad.

It does seem like it is some inconstancy. Errors have really hurt the team. pitching had been especially inconsistent. I am sure they will right the ship, but it might be next year.

I think it might be time to change managers. Is that not what happens in the big leagues? Why should it not apply here?

One one last night...the offense really got going. Let's hope they can keep it up.

Oh, and indianbacker, I don't think it is Tagert's fault. The team has just lost some key pieces of the plan along the way. He is a great manager and player personell guy, I don't think this season changes that.

The admin is right. This is not management's fault in either the front office or on the field.

It is his fault. He picks the players and tells them what to do on the field. He should have had a back up plan. Maybe he got too lackluster since he knows they won't fire him.

It looks like they have made a few solid roster moves, and hopefully it will add to the team offensively. Sergio Miranda already looks like he will be a great addition after 1 game. I look forward to seeing Ernie Banks Jr. on the field too!

Well, just that fast Banks was traded...at lease he and Judge were traded for pitching.
