La Porte shocks Penn in their summer league game yesterday..the Kingsmen were without D1 prospect Caroline Buhr, but still had the rest of the team intact..the Slicers have been playing a tough schedule in the summer and looks like it is starting to pay off I was there and made some highlights.. youtu.be/crnTM8y6yZA

LaPorte played Merrillville tough when I saw them on the road. Coach Heath's teams do run a patterned offense and they do have strong guard play.

Well, Jaclyn Heath is a pretty top tier player. I don't know if she is D-I or not, but she is being touted that way. LaPorte will continue to play better. The Slicers were a respectable 13-9 last year which was huge since they were 7-14 the year before, and 1-20 the two years before that and it was their first winning season since the turn of the century. They are headed in the right direction, that's for sure.

I have seen Jaclyn play alot in the offseason..several AAU games and several summer games with La Porte..I think her lack of height will hurt her recruiting..she is extremely quick and makes good decisions with the basketball..she can also handle a press well..but I think ultimately she will not go D1..I'd rate her as the top pure point guard in the area though
As for the team..I think they are top 3 in the Duneland this year with Michigan City and Merrillville right there in the mix..I'd consider them to be the "sleeper" in the conference

Thanks for going out and doing these videos JT. Looks like the Slicer girls are going to be tough this upcoming season. Quite a turnaround from a couple seasons ago.

Girls don't have to be that tall to be recruited. She will still grow, and even so, sheer isn't much shorter than Melissa Lechlitner was, and she is paying pro ball in Europe. I don't know that sure is a D1 player either, but she will make some college team very happy.

Not saying she won't be recruited..I'm sure she will have an opportunity to play somewhere..I just think the fact she is maybe 5' 1 or 5' 2 will have an impact on where she can go

right, and I don't know if she is a D1 player. Probably not, but if she develops as well as she has been, she could be another mid-major player. She is listed at 5'3" (who knows if that is accurate) but is only going into her Junior year and there is potential for her to grow. Purdue has a pair of 5'6" players on the roster and Notre Dame has a 5'4" player on it's. Again, height doesn't matter as much on the women's side. Not that height is not important, but it seems like the emphasis is on skill. Again, I am not sold on her as D1, but she is a great athlete.
