Here is a list of Hobart Brickies that played in the NFL: -Emil Uremovich (Indiana University) played defensive line for the Detroit Lions in the early 40s (WWII years) -John Johnson (Indiana University) was WR for Bears under Halas throughout the decade of the 60s along with Ditka, Butkus, Sayers etc. when the Bears played all their home games at Wrigley Field. Rookie member of 1963 NFL champion Monsters of the Midway team. -Bob Kuechenberg (Notre Dame) Guard-Tackle-Center played his entire 14 year career with Miami Dolphins under Don Shula and was 7 time pro football Hall of Fame finalist. Let's just say that Bob Kuechenberg is among one of the most accomplished players in state history. -Bob Kuechenberg's brother Rudy Kuechenberg (Indiana University) played linebacker for the Bears, Packers, Browns and Falcons in the late 60s, early 70s -Michael Kaczmarek (Southern Illinois) played linebacker for the Baltimore Colts in 1973 -David Tipton (Western Illinois) played nose tackle for New England in 1975 and 1976. -Ted Karras Jr. (Northwestern) played DT a season for the Washington Redskins in 1987. -Craig Osika (Indiana University) played Guard-Center for the 49ers and Browns in 2002 and 2003 -Hall of Fame Coach and principal Russ Deal (Indiana University) signed with the Baltimore Colts in 1947 broke contract to accept head coaching position at Hobart High School.
